Deer: In areas where the rain has been consistent, many hunters are reporting that deer are not utilizing the protein feeders. This is to be expected, and will change as we go into the dryer months of the summer when native food sources lose their nutritional value.
Try mixing other small grains with your protien. This will help the deer make the transition from native browse to the protien feed. Our field obeservations indicate it should be a good year for antler development.
Dove: There is going to be a lot of feed for doves this fall. This is good for the doves, but could make it tough on the hunters because too much feed has the tendecy to spread out the birds. The good news is that the native doves are having an excellent hatch.
Turkey: The turkey have benefited from the good spring rains as well. The turkey hatch, for the most part, is over, and from our field observations it was a very good hatch in most areas.
